Three Scenarios In Which Recliners Are Very Therapeutic

Most people do not think of recliners as therapeutic. They just view these chairs as furniture. However, there are at least three scenarios where a recliner is quite therapeutic, and if you find yourself in any of these situations, try a recliner for support.

Many people who suffer from insomnia find that they are able to fall into a nice light to medium sleep in a recliner. Perhaps it has something to do with the lack of springs poking them in the back or rib cage. Maybe it has something to do with all of the extra comfy softness and padding of a recliner. Whatever it is, it does work.

Sleep Apnea and Snoring

People who suffer from sleep apnea and/or snoring are actually choking on their own relaxed neck muscles and/or extra flesh around their necks. Pulmonologists recommend elevating the head of the bed to reduce snoring and open your airway at night. While it is not recommended that you permanently transfer to your recliner to sleep at night, it is a good temporary solution if your spouse needs a good night's sleep, or you need to awake more refreshed than you usually do. It also works in a pinch if you are in the middle of moving, or you are getting a brand new bed and the bed has not arrived yet.

Hip or Knee Surgery

Hip or knee surgery is incredibly painful. While the pain medications can help, nothing beats a recliner for a more comfortable sitting position. The extending footrest of a recliner is very helpful for immobilizing your knees and keeping them straight, too. If you have a power recliner, the recliner can also help you get to a standing position with less pain as it lifts you to your feet.

Planning and Buying Ahead

If you know that any of the above situations apply to you, or will apply to you in the near future, now is the time to buy your recliner. Then you will have enough time to figure out where to best place the recliner so that it is in the most comfortable and convenient spot in the house. A den near the bathroom, or the living room near the dining room are both examples of places where the recliner will look nice, but also provide you convenient access to restroom facilities and family dining. At this time of year, recliners are also on sale so that people can give them as holiday gifts.

About Me

Choosing Quality Furniture: Tips After I moved into my new apartment, I was eager to get it furnished quickly, so I just went to the local furniture store and just chose a few pieces I liked the appearance of. Within a year, my sofa cushions became very uncomfortable and one of my bedroom dresser drawers broke. I learned the tough lesson that you should not choose your furniture based on appearance alone. Soon, I began performing research on how to choose quality furniture. I then chose a new sofa and dresser that I decided was good quality based on my research, and I am happy to say that they are still in perfect shape after five years! I am eager to share what I learned about furniture when conducting my research with anyone who needs the help on my new blog!
